• Supplemental Figure 1 - Figure S1. Phylogenetic tree showing the relationships between Arabidopsis citrate synthase proteins. The amino acid sequences for five Arabidopsis CSY proteins, pumpkin (Curcurbita pepo) glyoxysomal CSY (gCSY) and three Saccharomyces cerevisiae citrate synthases (cit1p and cit3p are mitochondrial and Cit2p is peroxisomal) were aligned using ClustalX software and a phylogenetic tree created using the Neighbor program in the PHYLIP software package (see Material and Methods). The bootstrap values from 1000 replicates are shown at the nodes.
• Supplemental Figure 2 - Figure S2. Phenotypes of progeny from a CSY2csy2/csy3cys3 parent plant. Seed was stratified and incubated on 1/2 MS medium plus 1%(w/v) sucrose for 12 days as described in Materials and Methods. Three quarters of the seeds carried at least one copy of CSY and produced seedlings with wild type phenotype (left), while one quarter of the seed were double homozygous mutant and have a dormant seed phenotype, except for infrequent cases of delayed spontaneous germination (right).
