A: continuous recordings of extracellular pH in tomato cells treated with 0.3 nM flg22, 1nM hexa-N-acetyl-chitohexaose (chitin) or 0.3 μg/ml fungal xylanase without pretreatment (control, blue lines) or after pretreatment with 100 nM flg22-ΔA16/17 (I, red lines) as indicated. B: Competitive antagonism of flg22-ΔA16/17 was analyzed by testing alkalinization response in cells treated with different concentrations of flg22 alone (control) or in cells pretreated for 6 min with the concentration of flg22-ΔA16/17 indicated. Extracellular pH was measured 20 in after addition of flg22.
