Supplemental Figure 1
-
UV-B-mediated gene induction of the marker genes tested is not affected in tt4 mutants. RNA gel blot analysis of 7-day-old Arabidopsis seedlings of the indicated genotypes (COP1, CONSTITUTIVELY PHOTOMORPHOGENIC1; TT4, TRANSPARENT TESTA 4 encoding chalcone synthase) that were irradiated under WG327 (-UV-B control) and WG305 (+UV-B) cut-off filters. The tt4 allele used was the T-DNA insertion line SALK_020583 in Col background (Alonso et al., 2003). Blots were sequentially hybridized with specific probes for the indicated genes. Ethidium-bromide-stained rRNA is shown as loading control.

Comparison of early, low-level UV-B-induced genes in Ler wild-type and hy5-1 mutant (corresponding to Figure 1A).
Supplemental Table 2
-
Comparison of early, low-level UV-B-induced genes in Col wild type and cop1-4 mutant (corresponding to Figure 2C).
Supplemental Table 3
-
Early, low-level UV-B-induced genes in Col and Ler wild types (set of 320 genes). Inducibility in cop1-4 and hy5-1 mutants (corresponding to Figure 2D).
Supplemental Table 4

Genes that are over- or underexpressed in cop1-4 compared to Col wildtype under a 327-nm cut-off filter (-UV-B) (incl. Venn diagram showing the number of genes over- or underexpressed in cop1-4 compared to UV-B-induced genes in Col wild-type).
