Supplemental Figure 1 -
An amino acid sequence alignment of patatin-like domains found in lipases from animals, plants and yeast. The patatin-like (Pfam01734) domains were identified by querying the NCBI Conserved Domain Database (Marchler-Bauer et al., 2005) and the amino acid sequences were aligned using ClustalX (version 1.83). The alignment was edited with BioEdit (version 5.0.9). Patatin is from potato. TGL3, 4 and 5 are from yeast. SDP1, SDP1-like, ATGL-like and Patatin-like1 are from Arabidopsis. Brummer is from Drosophila. ATGL is from humans. The positions of the nucleotide (GXGXXG), the serine esterase (GXSXG) and the aspartate active site (DX[G/A]) motifs are underlined in the consensus sequence.
