  • a Samples were collected from leaves (node 4) of controlled-environment-grown plants ~4 weeks after transfer from in vitro culture. GSH and γ-EC were determined as described in the legend of Figure 5. H2O2 was determined fluorometrically according to Guilbault et al. (1967; see Methods), and γ-ECS activity was determined in crude cell-free extracts as the rate of formation of γ-EC from cysteine under anaerobic conditions (see Methods).
