  • a Relative values of PIN1, PIN2, and PIN4 expression as a percent of the wild type with β-tubulin as the endogenous correction factor were calculated. Relative expression from real-time PCR analyses were normalized to untreated Ler shoots for shoot data and untreated Ler roots for root data, respectively. PIN2 expression in the shoots was not examined (NE) since Chen et al. (1998) showed PIN2 was not expressed in light-grown hypocotyls. For the treatment studies, 1 μM IAA, 10 μM TIBA, or 10 μM NPA was used. The experiment was replicated, n = 3. ⇈, >10-fold increase; ↑, twofold to 10-fold increase; ↓, reduction; ⇊, below detection; and —, not different from the wild type.
