Plant Cell Advance Online Publication
View Advance Online Papers

Plant Cell advance online articles are posted after they have been copyedited and the authors have reviewed proofs, but before the final, completed issue is published online. These advance publications appear online four to eight weeks earlier than the monthly issue in which they will be included. Minor corrections may be made before the issue is released.

Plant Cell advance online papers are citable. The official publication date is the date the paper is first published online and can be found at www.plantcell.org. Plant Cell advance online publications are assigned Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs), automatically generated unique identifiers for intellectual property in the digital environment (e.g., 10.1105/tpc.107.010130). All advance online papers in The Plant Cell include their unique DOI in a footnote.

A sample citation of an advance online publication is:

Lally, D., Ingmire, P., Tong, H.-Y., He, Z.-H. (May 20, 2001). Antisense expression of a cell wall-associated protein kinase, WAK4, inhibits cell elongation and alters morphology. Plant Cell 10.1105/tpc.107.010075.

After a paper is first published online, it proceeds through the remainder of the production process and is published four to eight weeks later in both Plant Cell Online and the printed journal. The final, formal citation of a paper in The Plant Cell that was first published online follows:

Lally, D., Ingmire, P., Tong, H.-Y., He, Z.-H. (2001) Antisense expression of a cell wall-associated protein kinase, WAK4, inhibits cell elongation and alters morphology. Plant Cell 13: 13171332.

After final publication, the advance online version of a paper will be removed from the active list and stored in an accessible, permanent archive.

Advance online publications are functionally integrated into the Plant Cell Online system. If an advance online publication meets search criteria, it will appear in the search results. They are also included in the e-mail notification of new papers, which readers can sign up to have delivered on a weekly basis. Advance online publications are also listed in and are accessible through PubMed.

Access to advance online publications is free to members of ASPB as well as individual and library subscribers. Others can access these articles using pay-per-view.
